The possibilities are endless.
Architectural furniture includes bathrooms, vanities, built-in entertainment centers, computer desks, offices, libraries, bars, fireplace mantles, laundry rooms, etc. These are all areas for which we can provide additional designs to add to your kitchen area, or to complete a part, or all, of your home.
Whether you choose to make a statement with these pieces, or you wish them to blend with the historical style of your home, The Workshops is up to the task to design, build, and install these special pieces.
It's been said that the "kitchen is the heart of the home" - we feel this is a true statement. We have seen many "OK" houses transformed into wonderful homes by the addition of one of our kitchens. If you are having us build your kitchen, it makes sense to have us build the other built-in items needed. All the pieces in the house will blend with each other and "the look" continues throughout your home.
If your house is historical, it may have interesting architectural features such as mantles, built-in cupboards, moldings, etc. We can incorporate those details into the new project design to give the appearance the new cabinets are original to, and are harmonious with, the house.
For the design process, together with you, we utilize our design team and a very sophisticated computer drawing program. This program will show your project in plan view, elevation view, and in both black & white and color 3-D renditions.
Here's how our Architectural Furniture Design Process works:
Provide us, via fax, mail, or email, with your proposed project drawings. Upon review, we can provide you a ballpark cost estimate. If we fall within your budget, we can then complete more detailed drawings which will show you the basic project design and enable us to provide you a more exact project cost. We will share and discuss these drawings with you at our shop, your home, or via an internet meeting
Upon contract signing, your project is placed in our production schedule. We will then provide you with drawings, color samples, design details, and information regarding our sources that we have developed for appliances, lighting, sinks, faucets, etc. At this time, the basic design is a work in process that can be changed as the project moves forward. There will be a date assigned for the final design to be signed off in a timely fashion to meet the projected installation date.
Much of the design work is completed via internet and email. You may provide us with measurements and on site details, or we may visit your site to complete the design process. Also, you are always welcome to visit our showrooms in Morrow, Ohio.
We will design, build, finish, and install your project. This insures our quality standards are maintained to the end of the project. When we work with a non-local client, we can work directly with the homeowner, or the homeowners' choice of a contractor local to them. The contractor will be responsible for any onsite work (structural, plumbing, electrical, flooring, etc.), as well as making the necessary electrical and plumbing connections after the project is installed by The Workshops of David T. Smith.
We can also provide smaller cabinet projects like vanities or built-ins for your own installation. These items can be shipped or picked up.
We would love to hear more about your project. If you have questions or would like to discuss your project, please visit our Contact Us page. One of our designers, or David, will contact you.
