Handmade Kitchens from The Workshops of David T. Smith
Shaker Kitchen
This Shaker style kitchen was built for our showrooms in Morrow, Ohio. It was inspired by a trip to Hancock Village in Massachusetts.
The curly maple hanging cupboard holds a hi-def, flat screen TV with DVD player.
For this style kitchen, we chose a mixture of painted and stained wood cabinets in flat panel Shaker style doors.
The island is done in a beaded primitive style door.
The crown moldings are a mixture of period moldings and the feet are plan feet that have straight or curved cutouts.
All of the cabinets in this kitchen are based on an individual Shaker piece that I know of. We also call this style of kitchen a “Collected Style”.
We used a 1 ¼’’ cherry wood top on the island and ¾’’ curly maple wood tops on the rest of the kitchen.
All of the appliances are hidden. Concealed under panels or covers are, an Asko Dishwasher, a 36’’ Wolf Oven, a 736 Subzero Frig/Freezer,
a Wolf Glass cook top with a pop-in vent exhaust, a set of SubZero Fridge Drawers and bi-fold pocket doors that hide a micro wave, and several appliances.
All the wall cabinets have low voltage under-cabinet task lighting.
The island has a soapstone sink with an Herbeau Faucet.
Most of the cabinets have interior elements such as spice drawers, vertical tray dividers, or pullouts.
This kitchen was built for Country Living Magazine to use as their DEMO kitchen at the 2007 Country Living Fair, which was held at our shops in Ohio.
