The original craftsman
for museum quality antique reproduction
For over 40 years we have been proud to share our passion for fine craftsmanship and our love for history with families and antique collectors all over the country. We feel it is a privilege that our customers allow us the opportunity to design and build our products for their home. We are proud of what we do and take so much pride in knowing that the pieces you purchase from us will be passed down through the generations of your family.
Our Turtlecreek Pottery collection is made up of forms and decorating styles from many regions.
Thrown, hand-built, and slab-formed pottery is decorated using several methods. Quilling, slip trailing, sponging, and sgraffito are all techniques that you will see on our pottery.
We strive to create pottery that honors the 18th and 19th century potters by which we were originally inspired.
We also create non-historic, seasonal, & custom designs that can be found in homes all over the country.
Furniture is constructed with only the finest joinery techniques and materials. We use solid wood construction and glued in wood blocks to strengthen moldings and feet.
We use dovetailed drawers, solid wood face frames for drawer fronts & doors, antique glass, shiplapped backs, and period style wood, brass, and/or hand-forged iron hardware.
Our team of master craftsman bring decades of experience & expertise to every project, ensuring each piece is crafted with exceptional quality & attention to detail.
Built-ins, entertainment centers, workstations, vanities, and concealed storage pieces designed for modern functionality may include metal drawer slides, plywood sides, backs, shelves, and/or other modern hardware where appropriate.
Every David T. Smith kitchen is designed and built from scratch.
Custom created just for you - each one unique and one-of-a-kind. If your home is historic and/or has interesting architectural features we can incorporate those details into your design.
Our kitchens are built using only the best material and construction methods. You will not find any cheap particle board, plastic corner blocks, overlay drawers and doors, or cheap hardware. We utilize high end birch plywood for our kitchen cabinets to limit any wood movement or shrinkage, and for the superior heat and water-resistant qualities, providing an extremely durable and long-lasting product.

From the Tulip Poplar Tree, this light in color wood paints and stains evenly, and is our top choice for painted finishes and secondary wood.
From the Red Leaf Maple Tree, this soft, highly figured premium wood is unmatched in beauty and is our most popular selection for stained wood finishes.
Generally from the American Cherry Tree, this premium hardwood stains perfectly, offering a very rich, warm tone.
Our years of experience and study of antiques & furniture has cumulated into a wide range of high quality, authentic finishes. For a modern style finish, we utilize various paint and staining techniques to give each piece its own personality.
Mainly used on our curly maple and cherry countertops, this finish is recommended for any surface used for food prep or near water.
Designer
This finish has a smooth texture, minimum wear, and no distressing for a more modern appearance.
antique crackle
This finish has a crackled effect which looks like an old alligatored finish that has dried and cracked over the years.
Timeworn
This finish is crackled, highly aged, and distressed with heavy wear marks in logical spots to resemble the look of an antique with years of heavy use.
An authentic, simple, one color, aged, paint finish. It is brushed on, aged, and distressed. Also available with no age or wear for a modern appearance.
Museum
This is our most popular painted finish. It is created by building up several layers of paint, finish, age, distress, and grime, to form depth and color variations.
Repaint
This one color, brushed paint finish leaves visible texture of age, distress, and grime under the fresh coat of paint, but does not show wood worn through.
