Our kitchens are built using only the best material and construction methods. You will not find any cheap particle board, plastic corner blocks, overlay drawers and doors, or cheap hardware.  We utilize high end birch plywood for our kitchen cabinets to limit any wood movement or shrinkage, and for the superior heat and water-resistant qualities, providing an extremely durable and long-lasting product. Every David T. Smith kitchen is designed and built from scratch, making each one unique and on-of-a-kind. If your home is historic and/or has interesting architectural features we can incorporate those details into your design.

Our custom options are vast. More primitive cabinets typically feature plank doors made of a single board or two boards nailed together with a cleat on the back and a beaded edge on the door face. Paneled doors can have flat panels, beaded panels or raised panel, and are often mixed together in our "Collected Kitchens." Projects with an antique finish include reclaimed antique glass that is installed as individual panes and glazed in place like an antique glass door; more modern style kitchens include modern glass.

"Butted Doors" are the most frequently chosen style, but we offer many options to suite your taste and best optimize the space, such as "Pocket Doors", "Bi-Fold Pocket Doors", etc. All drawers are dovetailed with a simple flush inset, unless you have chosen an upgraded style such as "Lipped", "Cockbead", etc. Feet are generally made in our "Primitive" or "Shaker" styles as an extension of the face frame, unless you choose to select a more decorative style. Regardless of choice, all style include our toe kick boxes hidden under the cabinets. Our multiple styles of moldings offer additional custom options for your one-of-a-kind kitchen.

We do not provide, wire, or install cabinet lighting. However, we are happy to include removable panels in upper cabinets for your contractors convenience.
