The Workshops of David T. Smith has long been known for their authentic finishes. Our Museum painted finish and our Timeworn stained wood finish have set the standard that other reproduction furniture makers try to imitate.
Our years of experience, and many years of research and study of antiques, have culminated into a finish which has the look and feel of one that was created 150 years ago. These pieces have what we call the "logical wear" of antiques. This wear is around the feet, the knobs, and on the edges of doors and drawers; anywhere the piece would have been logically rubbed, touched, or experienced wear. Every piece is worn a little differently to give each piece its own personality.
Premium painted finishes use latex paints and vary in level of age and distress.
Stained finishes apply rich color while allowing the natural beauty of the wood to show through.
Our grain painted and smoke decorated furniture is also very popular among antique collectors who appreciate these rare decorated antique pieces.
In addition to our classic paint colors shown, a wider color palette is provided to our clients with custom or kitchen projects at no charge.
